The Valmeinier ski resort in Savoie, in the heart of the Maurienne Valley at an altitude of 1430 metres, is a warm and friendly destination. Valmeinier and Valloire comprise the fifth-largest ski region in Savoy.

Resort has two sides, with a large choice of slopes, the wildest on the edge of surrounding natural parks, the more playful in the authentic modern ski area Valloire. The Galibier-Thabor ski area, which includes Valmeinier and Valloire, with its 160 km of pistes of all levels, is spread over 4 massifs equipped with high-speed lifts. The highest point, La Sandonière, at 2750 m is located on the Valmeinier side. On Wednesday evening you can ski on the illuminated piste between 5 and 6.30 PM (on Monday evening during school holidays).

Snowboarding is both popular and well catered for in Valmeinier. The terrain park here has been rated by professional reviewers as among the five best in France and the 15 best in Europe.
The terrain park, located in the Crey du Quart sector and served by the Château Ripaille draglift, is groomed daily by a dedicated park team, and contains an in-ground half pipe and boardercross course, which basically means less snow is needed for it to open, enabling it to get operational earlier in the season and last longer. The park also has several big-air jumps, a hip and various other features which change and evolve throughout the season.
Valmenier village
Valmeinier 1500 is a picturesque mountain village with old, traditional stone houses. Valmeinier 1800 is, in comparison, a young ski station built to fit into the surrounding mountain landscape. The chalets, furnished in wood, are grouped in a horseshoe-shape around the valley station, so that you can reach the sun terraces of the cosy cafes on skis. This village is built alongside the piste and offers plenty of entertaining options.
