What's new for this winter season in Les Menuires resort? The big news is the gondola lift on the La Masse side, ultra-fast and comfortable.
The fastest cable car in France
Designed by the construction company Leitner, this ultra-modern installation replaces the ageing Masse 2 section. It leaves from the resort and arrives directly at the summit of La Masse at an altitude of 2,804 m. Special feature: this technological marvel is one of the two fastest cable cars in France! 3,318 m in length, with a 1,050 m difference in altitude and a speed of 7 m/s, or more than 25 km/h, the La Masse cable car is not only one of the longest in the 3 Vallées, but is also the most efficient in France and only the second of its type in the country.
In both winter and summer, skiers and pedestrians can now reach the summit in less than 8 minutes instead of the original 25 minutes, with a total hourly capacity of 2,800 people.
The historic gondola lift, Masse 1, has however been retained to facilitate the practice of beginners.
Ultra modern gondolas and ski station
Setting off on board one of the 76 Diamond EVO panoramic glass gondolas is a real experience in itself! Quality, design and comfort are the key features, with individual seats, and skis on the exterior. The arrival station is entirely clad in glass and stone, is partially underground and has splendid views of the Lou valley. An escalator from the gondolas’ arrival point takes skiers to the top of the slopes and provides access to the 800 m2 terrace with 360° panoramic views. Taking a break at ‘Le 2800’ restaurant is a must. It has been refurbished and now has an outdoor snack bar accessible on skis and a sunny terrace with panoramic views.
Entertainment, concerts and a festive evening are planned to take place on the La Masse terrace and in the heart of the resort.
Opening of the ski area from 4/12/21 to 22/04/22
Except the Masse sector which opens on 11 December.
