The French ski areas of Serre Chevalier is upgrading two lifts for the coming season - at a cost of €8 million. The two new chairlifts - Eychauda and Cibouït - are going into the Monêtier area.
The first, a brand new six-person high-speed chairlift will be replace the original Eychauda, which will vastly speed up the trip from Monêtier to Villeneuve. The second being replaced is the Cibouït chairlift, which will for this winter be a four-person chairlift.
There will also be two new restaurants in Serre Chevalier Vallée this winter. The first, a tapas and grill called “15.9” will be in the town centre of Briançon and the second, a gourmet restaurant called “Orée du Bois” with semi-open kitchen using local produce will open in Le Bez. On the slopes, Le Bercail at l’Aravet has changed hands and will open as “La Cabane”.
Serre Chevalier Vallée is also investing further in renewable energy - after becoming the first ski resort to produce its own electricity last winter. It will adding another wind turbine near the one in place at Prorel, four extra sites of photovoltaics will be added to the existing 1420 solar panels and it aims to set up the first production unit for hydroelectricity in 2020.
Serre Chevalier plans to open for two weekends before the start of the season proper. It will open 30 November and 1 December then 7-8 December then non-stop from 14 December to 19 April 2020.
