For skiers and snowboarders, there was a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see the Total Solar Eclipse. Numerous ski resorts were on the totality eclipse path (about 17 US ski resorts saw the 98% Solar Eclipse).
A Solar Eclipse was on April 8, 2024. The event, which won’t happen again in the United States until 2044, sees the sun and moon cross paths, creating a surreal scene for observers.
The path of totality—in reference to solar eclipses—refers to the shadow created by the moon as it obscures the sun, briefly darkening the skies to appear as if it's dawn or dusk. This shadow and its dramatic effects could only be seen in certain parts of North America. From Texas to Maine, ski resorts saw the eclipse in the path of totality, and shared their photos of the event online.
