Damüls is a popular ski resort in the district of Bregenz in the westernmost Austrian state of Vorarlberg. Damüls is situated at an altitude of 1,430 m. Thanks to the merging of the two ski areas of Damüls and Mellau in 2010, the largest ski area in the Bregenz Forest, and one of the largest ski regions in the state of Vorarlberg, was created: the ski area Damüls-Mellau.
This resort region is known for its abundance of snow. In 2006, Damüls was awarded the title "Snowiest village in the world". On average, there is 9 meters of fresh snow per season. Another big plus of the places Damüls-Faschina are the numerous hotels and pensions, which are located directly on the slopes or the lift facilities.
Damüls ski area
In the Alpine section of Bregenzerwald lies the Damüls-Mellau ski area, of which, through the Mittagsspitze (2,095 m) is separated. On one side, the former World Cup location of Mellau is found, and on the other side, the tranquil Walser mountain village of Damüls. The ski areas are connected to each other through a lift system. With approx. 88 km of piste (including ski routes) - connected by 27 lift systems- you can experience a ski area that is designed not just for leisure skiing, but also for sporty challenges (e.g. on the Hasenhühel chair lift).
The terrain in the Damuls mountains is perfect for freeriding and ski tours and fantastic powder snow slopes and attractive routes abound.
Night skiing in central Vorarlberg mainly takes place in the ski area Faschina-Fontanella, which is approx. 3 km from Damüls ski resort. All owners of a valid lift pass can use the floodlit piste for free. From Damuls, Mellau and Au the night ski piste is easily reached with the ski bus.
Burton Snowpark Damüls
The Snowpark in Damüls is one of the most renowned parks in Vorarlberg and is known far beyond the borders of the province. The main park setup at the Walisgaden lift, the attractive All-Mountain-Line provides long freestyle fun with a complete run from the Uga mountain station to the Walisgaden valley station. The „Snowpark Kids“ was set up in the beginner area. In addition, there’s the Ragaz Pro-Line for all kicker jumpers with one with several big boats and a stepup including one of the probably best views over the whole skiing area. The park also offers its own chillout area with fine tunes and deckchairs.
Damuls village
The village of Damuls, which is located way up high at 1,430 m, is home to 300 inhabitants. During winter, skiers access the slopes directly from their hotel or apartment doors.
