Ski resort La Thuile is situated in the Alps at the extreme north-west of the country, close to the French alpine town of La Rosière.
La Thuile is situated along a road going from Pré-Saint-Didier in the north-west up to the Little St Bernard Pass in the south-east linking Italy to Bourg-Saint-Maurice and the Isère Valley in France. The combined ski area of La Thuile and La Rosiere provides an impressive 150km of ski pistes which straddles the border.
The skiing in La Thuile is best suited to the intermediate and begineers should be aware that the runs directly into La Thuile are not ideal for novice skiers. La Thuile has a good resort and top station altitude offering reliable snow. Also in the area is Courmayeur and its link to Chamonix, so visitors to La Thuile should have plenty to chose from.
Despite the fact that La Thuile is purpose-built, it is an attractive resort set amongst some really spectacular scenery, and has an old side to the village just across the river that runs through La Thuile. La Thuile is popular on the weekends when the nightlife hits its peak, and despite being a fairly small ski resort, La Thuile does boast a few bars and a good if not wild après ski scene.
