Les 7 Laux is a ski resort located in the French Alps, within the Isère department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It is situated near the city of Grenoble and spans across three main villages: Le Pleynet, Prapoutel, and Pipay, which are spread out on different sides of the Belledonne mountain range.
Les 7 Laux ski area
On one side, the sites of Prapoutel and Pipay which give access to several chairlifts such as the chairlift of the chamois or that of Gypaète which will lead you to the start of the slopes to ski in altitude. The top of the domain is at 2400 metres. The route of La Taupe, a fun run starting from the Prapoutel site, provides a 100% fun run.
Prapoutel (1350 m), the urban hub of the 7 Laux ski area where you can find all of the urban amenities (cinema, disco ...), and finally Pipay (1550 m), the well preserved village in the middle of nature, overlooking the Grésivaudan Valley. Just a little warning, it takes about an hour to drive between Prapoutel and Pleynet (through Allevard).
To the east, Le Pleynet (1450 m), a big mountain resort that overlooks the Breda valley surrounded by the chiseled peaks of the Belle Etoile and the Cabottes. The side of the Pleynet site will please lovers of virgin spaces with the Pra valleys, one of the treasures of the 7 Laux ski area, a real totally safe snow reservoir with remarkable landscapes. As for the freestylers, they will enjoy the 7 laux park with the HO label.
The ski area has 120km of pisted slopes as well as some good off piste skiing which means the area is alot larger than it first looks. The skiing goes from 1350m up to the summit at 2400m. 90% of the lifts have been updated in the last 10 years and they are constantly adding new slopes. There's a good range of slopes for all levels and both sides of the mountain (Prapoutel and Pleynet) are connected by lifts.
Skiing in Les 7 Laux
Squirrel Route (situated near Prapoutel) this multi-lift course is made up of mainly green runs (with the odd blue run thrown in) and takes around two hours to complete. It’s also offers some fantastic views over the valley. On a clear day you can see Grenoble and Chambéry below and on days when the clouds sit in the valley, it looks as though you are skiing above a sea of clouds.
For more advanced skiers the 7 Laux ski area has some fantastic red and black runs. Mataru is a wide red run best suited for intermediate and advanced skiers who enjoy a mix of technical challenges and wide, flowing turns. The Piste du Chamois at Les 7 Laux is one of the resort's more challenging runs, catering to experienced skiers looking for an exciting descent.
One of the jewels of the resort is undoubtedly the Vallons du Pra, which leads down to Le Pleynet, a veritable reservoir of snow which has been fully secured since 2009, offering remarkable scenery. The Vallons du Pra black piste feature long and wide that allow for fast, as well as steeper sections for added challenge.
There are lots of off piste options in Les 7 Laux too; much of the domaine skiable can be skied even if the route is not marked.
Snowpark 7 Laux
The 7 Laux ski area is renowned among Grenoble skiers and freestylers in particular for its snowpark, which extends over 8 hectares from Le Pleynet. The 7 Laux Snowpark is divided into 4 zones, each with a different level of difficulty.
Les 7 Laux has thought of all skiers, including freestylers, who will find the Snowpark des 7 Laux located at 1900m. You can take the Soleil lift to enjoy several lines of different levels laid out along the lift.
A green XS line with a multitude of whoops, small tables and small boxes for a gentle introduction to freestyle.
A blue S line with higher-level boxes and tables.
A red M line that starts on the ridge as a variation to connect to the bottom of the TK du Soleil with street rail, tubes, box, curves, table, hip, spin!
A black L table and a shred line will be available by February.
There’s also a 3km boardercross for all ages, so there’s something for everyone!
