Poiana Brasov is the most attractive ski resort in Romania and an important tourist center in the Prahova Valley. At about 150 Km from capital city Bucharest, just 12 km away from Brasov city, in a glade surrounded by coniferous forests, at the foot of the Postavaru Massif, you will find Romania’s most famous skiing resort, Poiana Brasov, and it is easily accessible by road.

Poiana Brasov is perfect for beginner skiers, because the slopes are wide and gentle. After a week of learning to ski, most beginners can afford to ski at the blue run from the top of the Cristianu Mare all the way down to the village. This is also a good resort for intermediate skiers to improve their skills, but the advanced skiers will find skiing limited as there are only a few black runs.

Bradul Slope: Ideal for beginners and families, this slope offers a gentle descent, making it perfect for those who are learning to ski or want a more relaxed run. Another good option for beginners, the Ruia Slope provides a longer descent and slightly more varied terrain, allowing beginners to progress while still enjoying a manageable run.
Drumul Roșu (Blue run): This is a low difficulty slope and the longest in the country with a length of 4600 m. It has connections with almost all the rest of the slopes in Poiana Brasov. You can get the cable car from the Kanzel slope. This slope is considered one of the most beautiful in Poiana Brasov and in Romania. When there is good visibility you can enjoy magnificent views of the peaks around such as Bucegi, Poienii, Rasnovului and more.
Intermediate to advanced skiers can enjoy the Sulinar Slope (2500 m), which offers more challenging terrain and steeper sections.
Considered one of the more difficult runs, Lupului Slope is ideal for advanced skiers seeking a challenging descent with steeper pitches and varied terrain.
The Ruia slope is a high difficulty slope and is specially created for experienced skiers. The length of the Ruia Slope is 1035 m and it can be accessed from the gondola station from the Kanzel slope.
Poiana Brasov village
Poiana Brasov is the highest village all over Romania, sitting at 1000 m above sea level. It is about 8 km away from the city of Brasov and 10 km away from Rasnov. It is a family friendly and quiet place with direct access to the ski slopes.
If you are looking for more a more lively social and night life, it’s a good idea to stay in Brasov town, around 15 min away from Poiana. Brasov is a bigger city, with a beautiful Austrian-style city center, several shopping and food options, bars and cafes, and an incredible forrest surrounding it all.
