Selva village in the Val Gardena in South Tyrol, northern Italy, located about 30 kilometres east of the city of Bolzano. The valley is also surrounded by the Dolomites and the Puez-Odle Nature Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Selva Val Gardena ski resort is set in the valley of Val Gardena among the Sassolungo, Puez and the Sella Massif mountains and is one of the most popular ski destinations in Europe. The ski area surrounds the villages of Ortisei, S. Cristina and Selva and gives access to impressive mountains with attractive tree-lined pistes.

The ski area in Selva Val Gardena is perfect for intermediate level skiers with advanced skiers also feeling the love on some of the pistes.
The highlight are the ski slopes of Dantercepies and Ciampinoi, the Ski World Cup of the men's downhill "Saslong" in Santa Cristina, which allow you to continue to Ortisei. We should also mention the ski areas of Plan de Gralba, Piz Sella and Sella Joch, as well as the famous Sella Ronda ski route, which runs directly through the village and allows skiers to reach the neighboring valleys by ski. The Sella Ronda is made up of a series of ski-lifts and downhill runs, all linked to one another and set against a background of woods, rocky peaks and expanses of snow. You can travel in a clockwise or anti-clockwise direction - both are well sign-posted at every junction.
There is an abundance of long, wide and open reds on the different slopes around the resort, just perfect for confident intermediate skiers. You can also ski the long reds back down to the village from Passo Gardena at 2,137 metres and Dantercepies at 2,300.
After progressing on the nursery slopes in the village, beginners can test themselves on the easy blues just above the village. Confident beginners can challenge themselves coming down Passo Sella at 2240 metres altitude as there are also a number of easy blues on that side of the mountain.
Snowpark & Funpark Sassolungo - Val Gardena
At Piz Sella near to Selva Val Gardena you can discover two very special ski and snowboard parks.
The Snowpark Sassolungo - Val Gardena and the Funpark Sassolungo - Val Gardena. They offer a big kicker with many different jumps, a boardercross and a snail tunnel – it is a perfect playground for beginners, families and also for boardercross experts. The Snowpark Sassolungo is accessible with the eight-seater chairlift Gran Paradiso, the Funpark Sassolungo with the six-seater chairlift Comici I.
The Dantercepies/Risaccia skiing area offers an exciting snow adventure on the Funslope Selva that will magic a smile on the faces of every member of the family which will last well after the holiday is over. The Funslope Selva offers numerous challenging obstacles for brave skiers and fun surprises in the snow. It’s located directly on the Sellaronda and can be easily reached using the Risaccia I and II lifts.

Nestled beneath the towering plateaus of the Sella group in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites, Selva Val Gardena, known locally as Sëlva or Wolkenstein, is a picturesque village that harmoniously blends modernity with rural life, sports, and relaxation. Selva di Val Gardena is the last and smallest village of the Val Gardena ski area.
The village pays tribute to both its Austrian and Italian heritage and is one of the few places left where the Latin language is being spoken and taught to the young children of the area.
After all the activity in the cold outdoors, if you fancy a relaxing spa break, to unwind and recharge the mind and body, there are a few options to consider. A lot of the hotels in Selva Val Gardena have spas facilities and indoor swimming pools, some of which are open to the public. Not too far away from Hotel Nives and also close to the Nives ski lift is Hotel Portillo Dolomites 1966 another fantastic hotel with excellent spa facilities. It is an Alpine-style ski hotel and its spa is called the Alpin Spa.
At Selva, you can find anything from sportswear shops, designer fashion clothes and shoes to souvenir shops and specialised wood carvings (a local pastime and staple of the region). There are also a good number of little cafes, restaurants and little bakeries dotted around the resort.
