Early risers swear by the ‘white carpet’ the first descent of the day down a freshly groomed piste. Already at 7.45 am, the Marguns gondola lift and Chantarella funicular swing into action by 8.00 am, the other lifts have also commenced operations. And right on time, bathed in the first morning light, you find yourself standing on the Piz Nair, at 3,057 metres above sea level. Stretching out in front of you is a spectacular panorama, 100 kilometres of World Cup quality downhill runs and the ‘Crowland’ Corviglia Snow Park with its exciting obstacles and ‘kickers’. The new Fun Slope at the Corviglia Snow Park is guaranteed to thrill the children. The 600 m fun slope with its wave runs, steep runs and fun elements make for an unforgettable experience. Those with energy to spare should head for the Audi Ski Run and try and emulate the elite skiers, or race their peers for the fastest speeds on Piste No. 7. On the Chill out Paradiso Piste (piste No. 1) on Corviglia the emphasis is on skiing and snowboarding fun. Quiet zones for relaxation have been set up, and yoga on snow can also be practised on an individual basis or under expert instruction on the first world’s first ever yoga piste. The variety of options on offer is what makes the Corviglia so special; St. Moritz’s local mountain is one of the most famous snow sport areas in the world, celebrating a champagne climate like no other.
The Corviglia skiing area is home to 15 mountain restaurants where you can recharge your batteries. The selection ranges from simple, home-made specialities through to first-class gourmet dining. Tips: Reto Mathis’ caviar delicacies, cool drinks at the quattro BAR or a glass of champagne in the legendary Alpina Hütte.
