With Norway's most varied range of alpine skiing, the longest season and one of Northern Europe's highest lifts at 1450 metres, Hemsedal has something for every skier. Continuous development of the offer strengthens the position as Scandinavia's answer to the Alps. SkiStar Hemsedal will open this winter with an updated Fjellheisen lift, a new park, a carving piste and more evening-lit runs. In addition to improvements to the skiing experience, Valle is also introducing new features this year.
New developments in Hemsedal
Ski area:
- Dortheløypa (descent number 22) is now back, and big carving turns fit well in this wide, blue trail.
- The Camel Puck (number 7) has been widened and improved. Improved snow production in the area allows us to secure snow for an additional 600 meters. This area will be experienced as being brand new, and is wide enough for the really big carving turns.
- New compressor hall and compressors that will contribute to more efficient snowmaking and more optimised snow production.
- The Fjellheisen lift (left side) will be replaced with a new lift. The old lift was from 1965. The lift will have new masts and foundations and a better exit. The capacity will be the same as before.
- Lighting in Lialøypa (number 21) will help to further increase the range of non-stop and evening skiing.
- The lighting system in the new park and Lialøypa will be adapted to natural light, which is more efficient and energy-saving.
- Extended opening hours week 51, 52, 7 and 8: Monday to Thursday at. 9 am - 7 pm
SkiStar Snow Park:
- The red park will be moved to the area under the Tindenheisen lift. There will be a common start for both the red and blue parks and a clearly defined park area. We have entered into a partnership with F-Tech, an Austrian park design company specialising in park construction and one of the largest in this field in Europe.
- The development of the park also involves digitisation and 3D modelling for the construction and maintenance of the park. This will contribute to more accurate elements and a better finish.
- Two new park ramp machines will make the job of building and maintaining elements easier and more energy and resource efficient.
- The red park will also be illuminated, making it accessible for both non-stop and evening skiing.
- A new snowmaking system is being established that will contribute to more efficient snowmaking and earlier seasonal opening.
Valle:
In Valle’s area of Valleløypa, the Valles Music Studio reopens. This season with new content. The entrance to Valleskogen will be extended, making skiing easier throughout the season. The waiting room at SkiStar Lodge Hemsedal Alpin is being renewed and will have a new look.
Hemsedal lodging:
- Skarsnuten Hotel has 51 new rooms, a relaxation area, conference facilities and a new large roof terrace. Opens in November. There will also be four new food concepts.
- Apartments in the new Totten Lodge will be available in SkiStar's booking.
- The apartments in Fjellnest will be ready by Christmas 2022.
