This years modern 8-seater chair lift with heated seats and bubbles replaces the old Asitzmuldenbahn 6er.
In the summer of 2018 an old 6-seater chairlift from 2003 was replaced with an ultramodern 8-seater chairlift from Doppelmayr. The new Asitzmuldenbahn promises to be not only faster but also much more comfortable. To name just one of the improvements, more seats are now equipped with weather protection covers. These so-called “bubbles” provide protection against rough weather, like snow, rain or gusts, during the trip uphill. In addition, the new lifts’ seats are heated to keep the skiers from quickly getting cold.
This high-performance connection running from Asitzmulde up to the 1,870-meter-high Kleiner Asitz will transport winter sports fans not only more comfortably but also faster. Thanks to the modernization, the transport capacity has been raised from 2,400 to 3,500 persons per hour. To reach such capacity, not only were the number of seats increased but this Doppelmayr Anlage also covers one more meter per second compared to its predecessor.
At a speed of 6 m/s, this improvement reduces travel time by some 20 seconds. It is therefore expected that, from the upcoming season, skiers will need just below 2 minutes to reach the top station at the altitude of 1,871 meters.
The new installation could consequently remove what has been a bottleneck in the connection to Leogang and the long waiting times could finally melt away like last year’s snow. “The automatic restraining bar will make the trip up a relaxed and comfortable experience especially for families with children. Moreover, the new valley station has been relocated by some 55 meters, relieving congestion in the arrival areas of the Asitzmuldenbahn 8-seater chairlift and the Sportbahn Asitzkogel 6-seater chairlift.
This will also make the crossing and descending of the ski slopes towards the valley station safer,” summarizes Kornel Grundner, Managing Director of the Leoganger Bergbahnen, this successful construction project. The new chairlift installation is Doppelmayer's ultramodern D-Line Model. It is also the first 8-seater D-Line chairlift in the world, scoring additional points for the ski region Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn.
The Skicircus has been cooperating with the world market leader from Austria for many years; and it is no wonder – reliability, high-quality standards and the attractive design of its installations all speak in Doppelmayer's favor. The new construction of the Asitzmuldenbahn in Leogang, which is expected to be completed this December, will cost approximately 7.5 million euros.
