Last winter’s impressive snowfall has not endured, and the predicted summer and autumn quality skiing conditions have not transpired.

The Tignes glacial ski area has not been spared from the record temperatures documented in Europe this summer and over the past few weeks.
During this last week of September, we can only observe how deteriorated the snow cover is on our glacier. These circumstances do not allow for the optimal training conditions required by skiers, ski clubs and professionals of winter sports, who traditionally put their skis back on in Tignes during early October each year.
The lift company (Société des Téléphériques de la Grande Motte – STGM), the snow patrol and the Mayor of Tignes have decided to postpone the opening of the glacier, that was initially planned for the 29th September.
Its staff will be ready to welcome the first skiers of the season as soon as colder temperatures and precipitations are forecast. The indoor sports infrastructures will open as planned on the 29th Septermber (Tignespace and Le Lagon).
