The new 10-seater cable car takes you from the centre of Morgins village (1350m) to the summit of La Foilleuse (1850m), where you can admire a magnificent panorama. The new gondola replaced Switzerland's iconic 1st detachable 3-person chairlift, which had been in service since 1983.
Starting December 2023, hop into one of the cozy 10-person cabins for faster, easier access to incredible views from La Foilleuse.
The tourist destination Morgins put their new 10-passenger detachable gondola to La Foilleuse into service. This year-round installation is barrier-free and, thanks to its AURO technology, can be run autonomously.
At the beginning of April 2023, the existing triple chairlift, which provided the main link to the Portes du Soleil area, was sent into retirement after 40 years of service. Despite the fact that the timeframe for completing the new gondola lift was very tight, the opening of the new lift went ahead as planned in mid-December.
The new gondola enables barrier-free operation in accordance with the Disability Discrimination Act (BehiG) and incorporates the AURO system for autonomous ropeway operation, which enables ropeways to be run with unmanned stations. The cabin boarding and disembarkation areas are monitored using cameras and sensors which continuously capture and transmit safety data. As a consequence, the system independently identifies any situations that deviate from “normal operation”. If, for instance, a passenger’s ski pole is protruding out of the cabin door, this is recognized by the system and the ropeway automatically shuts down. A restart is initiated by a ropeway operative who has eyes on what is happening at all times from the Ropeway Operation Center (ROC).
The new lift is fitted with 38 OMEGA V cabins built by CWA. These provide plenty of space and incorporate a TWISTIN ski rack integrated into the floor.
