Situated in the Pyrenees National Park, Cauterets is an authentic mountain village; vibrant, elegant and refined, with a historic thermal spa. You will find all amenities there, such as shops, leisure activities, restaurants, cinema, casino and ice rink. A little further, at a distance of 7 kilometres, in the Pyrenees National Park, you will discover the Pont d’Espagne revealing its wonders winter and summer alike.
In winter, for a week-end’s skiing or a holiday in Cauterets ski resort, snow is guaranteed, due to the geographical situation of the ski station, its mountainous amphitheatre blocking climatic depressions. It was recognised as the snowiest resort in the world in February 2013.
Situated 12 minutes from Cauterets by Lys cable cars, the Cirque du Lys resort has great natural snow conditions.
You will be charmed by two skiing areas with the longest opening period of the year. Skiing at Cauterets is at the Cirque de Lys, with 24 pistes, 3 freestyle zones between. 1,730 metres and 2,450 metres and an extraordinary Oakley Freestyle Park! The Cauterets/Pont d’Espagne ski station also has beginner zones and a lovely blue piste with 700m of slopes, ideal for first-time skiers.
And if you head towards the Pont d’Espagne, you will discover a host of really different Nordic activities like cross-country ski, snowshoeing and tobogganing in the midst of scenery rivalling that of the Great Canadian North.
In the evening, in the same resort of Cauterets, you can choose between partying at one of the many convivial leisure spots, or total relaxation in the Bains du Rocher, where you are invited to relax in the naturally heated waters.
