Murau is a town in the western part of the Austrian federal state of Styria.
Kreischberg ski area
Ski resort Kreischberg thrilled with his wonderfully wide, 42 km of perfectly groomed slopes. The hit is the new 10-seater gondola: it brings guests easily and quickly from 1.600 to 2.050 meters above sea level.
The ski resort of Kreischberg won global recognition during the Snowboarding World Championships of 2015. Fantastic images flew around the world and the region had the chance to show what it's made of.
From the mountain station you can directly reach the slopes at the Rosenkranz, the six-pack chairlift and at the sun lifts.
Not to forget the special Kreischberg "Extras": speed run, permanent racing-piste, tubing arena... Various facilities of kids, such as e.g. the Flintstones-themed "Yabba-Dabba-Doo-Land", the "Dino Park" or the "Kreischi Safari" make the ski area very family-friendly. The little ones are perfectly well cared for with the kid's area with wavy slope, tubing trail, a Kreischi Tampolin as well as children's care service, ski kindergarten and a ski school.
With just one ski pass, "the Murtaler", you can enjoy the Turracher Höhe, Kreischberg, Grebenzen, Lachtal, Hohentauern and Präbichl ski areas with a total of 55 cable cars and ski lifts and over 150 km of slopes on offer!
Kreischberg snowpark
One of the sportive highlights and certainly one of the region's landmarks is the "Snowpark Kreischberg". On an altitude of 1,900 m close to the Sunshine lifts the well-shaped fun park offers all a freestyler needs. The beginner line alone is worth a mention: here you can practise on three kicker jumps, a wave run jump and several butter boxes. The medium line comprises eleven obstacles such as rails, boxes, kickers and a small half-pipe dating back to the beginnings of the freestyle scene at Kreischberg, that was well included to the park.
Kreischberg apres-ski
In the Kreischberg ski area, a total of 12 cosy huts and bars provide sustenance. The Restaurant Panoramaschirm on an altitude of 2,002 m offers a very special view with its 360 ° panorama over the surrounding mountain landscapes. The menu lists delicious Styrian specialities and other things. The trendy pub "Schluckspecht" is very popular with young and old, but also in the valley there are a number of possibilities to end the day, such as e.g. at "Einkehrschwung" or the "Kastanienbar", where you can party until late at night.
