Meribel continue to invest and develop the resort with a new, modern chair lift that will allow faster and easier access to some great pistes. The two Roc de Tougne drag lifts that link to the new Combes 2 chair are the ones that have been replaced so you can officially say your goodbyes to the steep twin drag lifts above Meribel Mottaret.
The replacement is a fast loading, 6 seat chairlift that takes just over 3 minutes, can move 2,400 skiers per hour and offers a second link to the Belleville valley. It’s certainly quite the upgrade they’ve been needing and a worthwhile one for 6.3 million euros.
The new lift will make it easier to reach north facing slopes and to transfer across to the slopes of their neighbour, Les Menuires. So, if you’re up for challenging and beautiful pistes such as the Logopede red run and the Bartavelle black run that was in fact a quiet haven for those who knew, make your way onto the slopes and tell us what you think!
The lift is designed to operate in high winds to ensure the 3 Vallees link will be open even in poor weather conditions which is quite impressive. As for skiing, the Lac de la Chambre piste Val Thorens and Meribel will be easier to ski or board as several difficult sections will be by-passed, meaning the piste can be down graded from red to blue.

The development not only means a more efficient and comfortable way of transporting skiers and snowboarders but more access to the Mottaret ski area in which they have not experienced. You can get the Coombe chairlift from the centre of Mottaret and then straight to the new chairlift to get up in the mountains first.
