Dorfgastein is located at the entrance to the sunny valley of Gastein, and together with the other three villages - Sportgastein, Bad Hofgastein, Bad Gastein - forms a single ski region of the Gastein valley, where 220 km of tracks are available.
The skiing area of Dorfgastein ranges from an altitude of 885 metres near Großarl via Mount Kreuzkogel to an altitude of up to 2,027 metres. Both villages are linked through slopes. The approximately 80 kilometres of slopes are accessible via five cable cars, nine chair lifts and five drag lifts.
Gastein valley villages are connected by a single ski pass and free ski bus. In turn, Gastein, along with four other large regions, is a member of Austria’s largest alpine skiing association Ski Amadé (Gastein, Salzburg Sportwell, Schladming-Dachstein, Hokonig and Grossarltal ski resorts). From the village of Dorfgastein itself, you can take shuttle busses that take you to Bad Gastein or Bad Hofgastein. From there, you can access the skiing area of Skischaukel Schloßalm-Angertal-Stubnerkogel.
The slopes of the village are a variety of descents, both for the beginner and for the expert. The modern cable car gives a high level of comfort in a unique atmosphere and leads to the huts. Beautiful view from the top to the surrounding mountains. Very well prepared trails invite skiers and snowboarders to the adventures!
Dorfgastein has about 1,650 inhabitants and houses up to approximately 1,700 guests. The village is bursting with authentic charm and a lively buzz.
