Die Tauplitz is the biggest individual ski area in Styria, in the Ausseerland - Salzkammergut region, in the heart of Austria: the confluence of 43 piste kilometers between 900 and 1,965 m above sea level, on three mountains, with the Tauplitzalm as the hub for all the action.
Tauplitz ski resort
The pistes of Die Tauplitz mostly lie above the tree line. If you are lucky with the weather you will be able to ski from morning to evening in brilliant sunshine. The pistes also treat you to impressive panoramic views of the hundreds of surrounding mountain peaks.
In the Hollhausmulde, you will discover everything families and children need for a beautiful day of skiing: 4 lifts, easy and intermediate pistes as well as great refreshment opportunities. The natural setting in a hollow makes this family ski area easy to navigate and easy to keep an eye on.
The ‘Schneebären Card’ links Ausseerland-Salzkammergut, the Gesäuse National Park and the holiday region of Schladming-Dachstein. State-of-the-art lift facilities, a total of 128 terrific kilometres of pistes and plenty of freeride routes are what make the Schneebären stand out (ski areas ‘Die Tauplitz’, Ski Riesenalm, Planneralm, Loser Altaussee and Kaiserau).
Off piste
The Tauplitz is one of the snowiest areas in the Alps. Records indicate snow depths as much as 4 meters – with fresh powder, magical firn and finest pillows for your creative lines. Another major selling point of Tauplitz is the potential for off-piste fun: almost every run marked on the piste map seems to have been designed to give access to tantalising un-pisted terrain.
The area which surrounds Die Tauplitz is essentially an enormous ski playground for freeriders: On the Mitterstein, Lawinenstein and Schneiderkogel, on the Grosser and Kleiner Süd, on the Ramsanger-Hang and the Tauplitzalm, where everything connects together, you will find lines that are obvious and hidden – with a broad spectrum of length and steepness.
Apres ski
The dining establishments on Die Tauplitz will also win you over with their location: Many serve you scenery, others beautiful sunsets with views of the Dachstein. Some boast sunny terraces and specialize in putting some healthy color in your face while you eat.
